Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
